Better late than never, huh?
Last Sunday was day 2 of my trip to Kansas. I started my day off with one of my staples - a Cliff Z bar. I really think that I'd die without them. Now that I've discovered that Target sells six pack boxes of them, I'm even happier.
I had an unexciting lunch in the hotel's restaurant. I had a field greens salad with balsamic dressing and vegetarian spring rolls. The spring rolls were wrapped in sticky rice paper. The filling reminded me of coleslaw without dressing. So...they were interesting, but not really good.
For dinner, my friend took me to a "nice" Thai restaurant near her apartment. She and her boyfriend had debated between taking me to a "nice" restaurant or a shabby but good restaurant. It didn't really matter, though, because I couldn't eat anything at the "nice" restaurant, so instead, we went to Bangkok Pavilion. I started out my meal with plum wine. Mmm. I love plum wine. Most people think it's too sweet and syrupy, but I really like it. For my meal, I had oriental broccoli with tofu. I didn't realize that meant I wouldn't get any broccoli heads, but it was still good. The sauce was sweet yet garlic-y. And delicious. My friend had a ground chicken dish and her boyfriend had a chicken and mushroom dish. He claims they have some of the best mushrooms he's ever had. It seems like they use a variety of fresh mushrooms.
Afterwards, we went to a local sports bar in Kansas. Sadly, I forget the name of it. But I do remember that their happy hour featured $2 well drinks! Cleveland seriously needs to take a lesson from Kansas. Times are tough - bring on the drink specials!

Cliffhanger
Always on the hunt for new tasty and healthy snacks, I gave a Clif Kid Organic Z Bar a try. I had the chocolate brownie variety, packed with 12 vitamins and minerals and no trans fats or high fructose corn syrup. As a kid, I wasn't allowed to eat "processed" desserts and choked down countless varieties of carob treats and I expected this energy bar to be the same. I was completely wrong. This bar was fantastic! Containing only 120 calories and 3 grams of fat, this little tasty nugget of chocolatey goodness was a great pick me up - and healthy. What more could you ask for? For those looking for a higher calorie snack, the adult bars promise to be just as delicious...they even have a women's variety with "essential nutrients" needed for female health. (?)
These bars are sold at most Giant Eagle locations..other varieties include chocolate chip, peanut butter, and honey graham. I'd recommend giving them a try.
