Better late than never, huh?
Last Sunday was day 2 of my trip to Kansas. I started my day off with one of my staples - a Cliff Z bar. I really think that I'd die without them. Now that I've discovered that Target sells six pack boxes of them, I'm even happier.
I had an unexciting lunch in the hotel's restaurant. I had a field greens salad with balsamic dressing and vegetarian spring rolls. The spring rolls were wrapped in sticky rice paper. The filling reminded me of coleslaw without dressing. So...they were interesting, but not really good.
For dinner, my friend took me to a "nice" Thai restaurant near her apartment. She and her boyfriend had debated between taking me to a "nice" restaurant or a shabby but good restaurant. It didn't really matter, though, because I couldn't eat anything at the "nice" restaurant, so instead, we went to Bangkok Pavilion. I started out my meal with plum wine. Mmm. I love plum wine. Most people think it's too sweet and syrupy, but I really like it. For my meal, I had oriental broccoli with tofu. I didn't realize that meant I wouldn't get any broccoli heads, but it was still good. The sauce was sweet yet garlic-y. And delicious. My friend had a ground chicken dish and her boyfriend had a chicken and mushroom dish. He claims they have some of the best mushrooms he's ever had. It seems like they use a variety of fresh mushrooms.
Afterwards, we went to a local sports bar in Kansas. Sadly, I forget the name of it. But I do remember that their happy hour featured $2 well drinks! Cleveland seriously needs to take a lesson from Kansas. Times are tough - bring on the drink specials!
