Some fake meat is just a little too meaty for me

Despite having read a not so great review of Morningstar Farm's Hickory BBQ Riblets, I decided to give them a try. I was a little hesitant to buy them since 1. I generally only like the organic fake chicken products made by Morningstar Farms 2. each riblet (2 come in the box) has 220 calories and 3. it looked a little too much like meat on the package for my liking. As a lifelong vegetarian, I'm not all that concerned with fake meat looking like real meat. I'd actually prefer that it not look or especially smell like meat. (which is why I'll never eat soy bacon - ugh, the smell!)

After 4 minutes of microwaving, here was the finished product:

Not really all that appetizing looking, and it really smelled like meat. (when my meat-a-tarian boyfriend thinks something smells good, I get concerned) Some of the sauce had oozed out of the microwaveable pouch and had turned into some sort of asphalt tough burnt-ness on my plate. Also a negative. I have to say I wasn't totally impressed by the flavor either. I can't say that I've had much bar-b-que in my lifetime for obvious reasons, but I don't feel like I've been missing out if this is what all BBQ tastes like. It also wasn't very filling, despite being 220 calories, so I can't say that I'll be buying this again. Heck, I'm not sure if I'll even eat the other riblet that's in my freezer. I need to find a vegetarian in town who will take all of my one-sy leftovers when I don't like something.
