Vegetarian Wine Tasting - Ponte Vecchio - May 19, 2009

While checking out the latest happenings over at the Cleveland Independents site, I happened to stumble across an announcement for a really neat upcoming event at Ponte Vecchio. On May 19, 2009 at 6:45 pm they'll be hosting a vegetarian wine tasting featuring five "totally vegetarian courses" paired with wine. According to the event announcement, the meal will start with a fresh salad of watermelon, fennel, vanilla oil, aged balsamic and black sea salt and end with an edamame, red pepper risotta cake with carmelized cippolini onions, plum puree and grilled pear. There will be three additional courses in the middle and dessert at the end - all for only $55! Such a deal for an ALL vegetarian meal - with wine! (I've been to a similarly priced/type event at Light Bistro that didn't include wine.) Space is limited, but you can call 216-556-8200 for reservations or more information.

Although I've never been to Ponte Vecchio, it's encouraging to me that they're reaching out to the vegetarian community in Cleveland. A great meal doesn't have to include meat! Which they've obviously caught onto since there are MULTIPLE vegetarian entrees on both their lunch and dinner menus. I hope to give this restaurant a "taste" in the near future not just for the menu but the incredible view. They've already racked up some cool points with me for being vegetarian friendly, but they also offer online reservations at Open Table. Could it get any better?
