Who actually puts espresso in an espresso martini?

I've got a case of the Mondays. I got almost no sleep last night. Was I out whooping it up? No. Did I stay up late? No. It took me until this morning to realize that the espresso martini I had at Sushi Rock was made with real espresso!

Thankfully, that was the only bad part of my evening. Unfortunately that trickled over into today. My friend Vino and I went out for the first time in forever to enjoy some food, beverages, and a bs-ing. We've been friends for over 15 years, and although we don't get to see each other all that often (outside of the gym, that is), we always have a great time when we go out.

We stopped at Melange for some $5 martinis before our 7:00 pm Sushi Rock reservation. I had an espresso vodka espresso martini and Vino had a chocolate martini. They were both delicious as always. I was happy to see that there was a large crowd at the bar. Mainly made up of cougars, but I'm glad to see Melange getting decent business.

Vino and I had a really long time to chat and catch up at Sushi Rock. Really, really long. We got our edamame appetiser minutes after we ordered it. Our vegetarian sushi came much later. The server had told us there was a 45 minute wait on food...but we waited well over an hour. It was soo worth it, though. I put away more sushi than most people could ever eat, including cucumber, tofu, carrot, and radish. Sooo tasty.

To make our gluttonfest complete, we headed to Mitchell's for some post-meal ice cream. I had a single scoop of peanut butter chip (which happened to come with extra large chunks of chocolate in it this time...mmm.) Vino got the Buckeye sundae, which was also made with peanut butter chip ice cream.

This weekend I won't be enjoying any fine dining, per se. My boyfriend's 30th birthday party is tomorrow night so I'll be enjoying the finest pizza and fattening dips this side of the Cuyahoga.
