Win Tickets to the Ohio Tequila Festival

Do you like tequila?  And would you like to go to the Ohio Tequila Festival on May 1 for free?  Yeah...me, too.  But lucky for you, I won a pair of free general admission tickets and won't be able to use them because I'm going to be out of town for work.


General admission tickets include tequila samplings, free food, and live entertainment.  (I have no idea if there will be vegetarian food, sorry)  If you'd like to learn more about the awesomeness of tequila, there will be classes at the event.  Each class is $5.

Freebie Friday - Use Social Media to Score a Free Chipotle Burrito

If you're a social media junkie like I am, take your cell phone and a friend to Chipotle this weekend (November 13-14) and "check in" using Facebook's Places application. Once you check in, show your phone to your friendly burrito maker, and you'll be entitled to a great BOGO deal, good for any entree.

The best part of Halloween - Boo-ritos

I've never been all that into Halloween.  I don't like dressing up.  I like candy but know I shouldn't eat a lot of it.  And I was scarred by a trick or treating incident at my house a couple years ago. 

Me: (to a little girl in a bloody princess dress) What are you dressed up as, sweetie?
Little girl: (maybe 8 years old) My husband beats me

Kids say the darndest things, huh?  (I gave her extra candy for good measure.  An 8 year old shouldn't be dressing up as a victim of domestic violence!)

So, the only part of Halloween I find to be enjoyable is Chipotle's annual Boorito promotion, where in the past, they've given away free food to anyone dressed as a burrito.  I've really enjoyed wrapping myself in foil for freebies, but this year - there's no free lunch - or dinner in this case, since the boorito promotion starts at 6 pm.  This year, if you dress up like a processed food item, you can get a burrito for only $2.  Up to $1,000,000 of the boorito proceeds will be donated to Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, a movement dedicated to improving nutrition standards and the way Americans eat.  (would you like fries with that?)

I can get down with spending $2 for a burrito - especially if that money goes towards helping the cheeseburger nation learn about better ways to eat and feed their families.  Now I just need to think up a costume!

Free vegan treats this Saturday at Tremont Scoops

Hot off the presses!  The Cleveland Veganz just alerted me to a give-a-way this coming Saturday at Tremont Scoops.

The best Halloween promotion ever - free boo-ritos

Call me a party pooper, but I'm not all that into Halloween.  I don't like dressing up.  I can only eat so much candy.  But there is one thing I can get down with every Halloween...Chipotle's free boo-rito promotion!

 

If you show up to your local Chipotle anytime after 6 pm on Halloween night wearing any sort of costume resembling a burrito (read - you're wearing foil on any part of your body), you receive a free burrito.  Easy peasy!  Think I'm making it up?  Check out the official Chipotle announcement here.

In past years I've gotten really into my foil costume...I've done a foil dress, a bustier, scarves, hats...I wonder what I'll come up with this year... 

Free White Flower Cupcakes this Sunday

In honor of Food Network's Horror Cakes Challenge (airing this Sunday at 8:00 pm), the lovely ladies at White Flower Cake Shoppe in Beachwood are holding a special VIP party from 12:00-4:00 pm this Sunday, October 25. With a purchase of $5 or more, you'll get a free "monster" cupcake. I'm not exactly sure what a monster cupcake is, but I do know that their cakes, cupcakes, and especially brownies are delicious, so no matter what they're giving away, it will be good. Let them eat cake

This upcoming weekend, the ladies at The White Flower Cake Shoppe in Beachwood will be holding a very special celebration in honor of their upcoming appearance on the Food Network. They competed in a Sesame Street challenge a few months ago, and the episode is set to run on Sunday, July 26 at 8pm.

Also on Sunday, White Flower will be open from 12-4 (yay- they normally aren't open on Sundays!) and will be giving away a free themed (Cookie Monster) cupcake with any purchase. They'll also be serving samples of their out-of-this-world-delicious brownies and cake and Caribou will be providing coffee.

If you like dessert and supporting local businesses, please drop by and give one of the White Flower treats a try. You won't be disappointed. Especially if you get my favorite - the cheesecake brownie!

Free candy with Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act

While checking an alternate email account this morning, I was drawn in by one of the obnoxious ads at the top of the page. Apparently every Friday at 9:00 AM ET, the Mars candy company (M&M'S®, SNICKERS®, TWIX®, 3 MUSKETEERS®, MILKY WAY® and DOVE®) will be giving away 250,000 coupons for free candy. It's their attempt at an economic stimulus package. And from the wording of their campaign, they're trying to sway people from eating chocolate "flavored candy" to eating real chocolate. (BTW - what's an example of chocolate candy that doesn't use real chocolate?!?)

Free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's

I just saw a blurb about Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day - April 21, 2009. You can stop by any participating Ben & Jerry's shop between noon and 8 pm and get a free scoop of ice cream. It's that easy! From what I can tell the only Cleveland area location participating in this give-a-way is in University Heights. Although I think most of the Ben and Jerry's flavors are a bit too fatty for my liking, if it's free, I really can't complain...
