If you run a lot, you can eat a lot

I had the opportunity to slack off and not cook...err...eat out a few times this past weekend. On Friday, I went to Pizzazz in University Heights with my boyfriend. After a long week (and after a 4.7 mile run), you can't go wrong with a glass of Chateau St. Michelle Riesling, a salad overflowing with cheese, and an oooey, gooey, calzone. There was quite the bar crowd there. The old preppy looking guys gathered around the one tv showing NCAA games seemed like regulars. I'm guessing it was an old guys night out. It was pretty comical. They thought they were much hipper and cooler than they actually were.

After dinner, we went to Mitchell's to continue the gluttony and to negate my earlier workout. I tried the carmel fudge brownie ice cream. It's really one of the best ice creams I've ever had in my life. It had a carmel swirl with little, moist brownie pieces throughout. It was heavenly. My boyfriend never eats ice cream, but he kept trying to eat mine because it was SO good.

On Saturday, after running some more and going to spinning class, I stopped by Treehugger's Cafe for some lunch before volunteering at the Berea Animal Rescue. The place was pretty packed, which made me happy. I always worry that new businesses won't do well...especially if they aren't "traditional." I had the oat burger, which was huge and had a sweet taste to it. Almost like a sweet potato. The burger was a little crumbly, but overall very good. Maybe not as good as the chick pea burger, but I'd definitely eat it again. To my dismay, they didn't have any peanut butter brownies! I'd been dreaming about eating one for a week. So I left hungry, and craving sweetness. Sad. Thankfully, later in the evening I had a delicious cupcake from Appetite at a surprise birthday party. I generally like frosting more than the cake part of a cupcake, and the cupcake I picked was slathered in delicious chocolaty frosting. It tasted more like something I would make at home, but it was still good. I don't always have to eat fancy cupcakes.

After another 4.7 mile run on Sunday - in the cold and rain - I rewarded myself with a brownie from White Flower Cake Shoppe. Well, not an entire brownie. I split it with my boyfriend. I really love the actual brownie part. The cheesecake filling is an added bonus, but I'd just be happy if there was more brownie and less of everything else. When I picked up the brownie, one of the bakers told me they're thinking of expanding their flavor selection to include peanut butter chocolate. I can't even imagine how good that would be!

I guess it's a little sad that I work out so much, just so I can eat so much...but everyone is motivated by something different, I suppose.
