Review: Vegetarian Friendly Bar Food at Winking Lizard

Earlier this week, I talked about how difficult it can be to find truly vegetarian grub when you go out to eat.  But more and more restaurants are offering decent options these days.  Like Winking Lizard.

For as long as I can remember, Winking Lizard has offered vegetarian favorites, like salads, quesadillas, cheese pizza, and the occasional veggie wrap, but fairly recently, they rolled out a fairly extensive list of vegetarian specials.  (they're not billed as vegetarian specials, because that might scare people)  They have roasted veggie quesadillas, harvest vegetable pizza, eggplant parm, and my personal favorite, the hummus vegetable sandwich.  Hummus, multi-grain bread, and fresh tasting vegetables - am I in a bar or a vegetarian restaurant?  Ok, I'm exaggerating a little, but the sandwich is pretty darn delicious.  I mean, anytime I can order something besides a salad in a restaurant, I get kind of excited, and I was so happy to see Winking Lizard roll out all of these vegetarian friendly items.  What made me a little sad was the comments I saw on Facebook when the new menu items came out.  Ignorant things like "where's the bacon" and "there should be more meat on the menu," but...hopefully those opinions are the minority and Winking Lizard continues to offer more vegetarian options.  (along with their amazing free popcorn!)
