Vegan street burrito at Vine and Bean

If you know me IRL, you know that I'm desperately seeking a house to buy.  I'm temporarily renting a house while the house I own is being occupied by my so-awesome-that-I-could-never-ask-them-to-move-out tenants.  (Long story, obviously.)  After one of my recent house hunting escapades (and they really are escapades...c'mon, people, clean your house before a showing!), my mother and I went to Vine and Bean for some grub.

I had been hoping to have the amazing vegetarian lasagna that I'd ordered when I went there in December, but I was surprised to find that the menu had changed.  (that's my only pet peeve about this place...the menu online never matches what's on the in-house menu)  So instead, I had the street burrito, one of the many vegetarian options available that day.  (like the broccoli soup!  it was to die for!)

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to using "fake" meat in things like burritos.  I'm just as happy when vegetables are used instead, but if I remember correctly, this burrito had tofu or tempeh in it .  That being said, it was good...but not all that memorable.  (granted, I was there a few weeks ago before I had the chance to eat exceptional vegan fare in LA...but still)

I've never eaten at Vine and Bean's sister restaurant - Lucky's - but I hear that there's less of a wait at Vine and Bean and the food is exactly the same.  Including the decadent desserts I never have room for.  Even if you're not a vegetarian, you should give Vine and Bean a try.  I hear they have an amazing new Reuben sandwich on their menu...I'm tempted to go there and try it without meat!
