Why I've been absent and Taj India Palace

Dear readers.  Please excuse my recent slacking.  I have SO many amazing things to tell you about, but I'm traveling for work right now, and blogging on company time on company equipment is generally frowned upon.

But I can briefly tell you about the best Indian meal I've had in a long time.  I met up with an old friend (they seem to be popping out of the woodwork these days) at Taj India Palace in Richmond Heights for the lunchtime buffet.  To be honest, I was a little skeptical about going to this restaurant.  I've gone there more times than I can count, but in recent years, the food and service seemed to have gone downhill.  I blame that on the frequent change in ownership.  I can't even remember all the names this restaurant has gone by.  But...I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was this time around.

I loaded up on as much grub as I could fit on my plate.  This buffet features an entire wall of vegetarian (and I'd imagine some vegan) items.  I'd never had mushroom masala before...and it was amazing.  But so were all of the other things that I enjoyed eating but forgot the names of.  Oops.  And for $10, I ate more food than I should have and was stuffed for the rest of the day.

If you're into adventures in ethnic dining and love a good buffet, give this place and its new owners/management a try.  It's really a whole new restaurant and doesn't deserve the bad reputation that seems to haunt this stripmall space.
