Over the weekend I had a chance to have lunch with my friend Vino at The Stone Oven in Woodmere on Sunday. Being a connoisseur of bread, since it's one of the only foods that I can eat at just about every restaurant, I was pretty excited to give it a try. I had the Veggie I, which consisted of tomato pesto, roasted red peppers, and provolone cheese. I got to pick out my bread type and I selected the very fresh and tasty onion foccacia. My friend had the egg salad sandwich on sourdough, which she said was also very fresh and good. A nice feature of the restaurant is that a side dish comes with every sandwich. I had the overly-dilly cous cous. My friend had the cabbage salad. I can't say that I was overly impressed by either side, but it was nice to have various side dish options. As we left, Vino commented on how "light" the meal was...and to us, that was a good thing. Portion sizes were just right and didn't make you feel guilty or disgusting afterwards.
I haven't had too many other dining experiences lately. My foot injury has prevented me from going out very much. Only one more week and I should be allll better and back to enjoying long runs and martinis.
