Win Tickets to the Vegetarian Friendly Great Big Home and Garden Expo

I received an email from a very nice PR rep named Jessica last week, asking me if I would help promote The Great Big Home and Garden Expo, being held at the IX Center from February 4-12. Normally, I'm not much of a convention goer myself.  I generally man a booth at about a dozen conventions a year at work, so the last thing I want to do when I have a weekend away from a convention center is go to another convention center.  But to be honest, this show sounds pretty interesting.  In addition to booths related to home and garden trends, there's going to be a cooking stage at this convention - The Loretta Paganini School of Cooking Stage - and it will be featuring quite a few sessions related to vegan and vegetarian cooking (and a couple on chocolate!).  The schedule lists the following vegan and/or vegetarian friendly sessions:

  • "Moroccan Vegetarian” with Eric Wells of Skye LaRae's Culinary Services
  • “Veganize-It” with Tim McCoy of the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute
  • “Super Salads” with Jenn Thomas-Pallotta of Jenn Can Cook
  • “Death by Chocolate” with Stefanie Paganini of the International Culinary Arts and Sciences Institute
  • “Best of Umami” with Matthew Anderson of Umami

Sound like an event you'd be interested in attending?  I have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky winner!  (note that your tickets will be good for one day only, so check out the show schedule if you win to decide when you'd like to go)  Comment on this post and let me know what's the best convention you've ever attended (can be anything - from work related to stamp collecting) and I'll select one lucky winner next Tuesday, 1/24/12 at noon EST. And don't worry - if you don't win, you can still purchase a discounted ticket online through this link and using the discount code "VEGETARIANS." (no quotes)
Ironically, I'll be working at a convention in LA, so I won't be able to attend this show, but if you do get a chance to go, I'd love to hear all about it.  Or maybe you can save me some chocolate?

  1. Sounds like my cup of tea, not only with the Vegetarian/Vegan cooking sessions, but the Home and Garden Expo. Please enter me in your contest.

  2. Oh darn! I missed it! I'll still tell you my best convention though. When I was young, my aunt was a buyer for a furniture store. There was a convention in NYC that she always went to and took a few nieces and/or nephews. While my aunt was doing business, my brother and I just wandered around the convention (getting swag and free candy from the vendor booths.) Other than that one day at the expo, we spent the rest of the long weekend in NYC. Good times!
