For some reason, I'm more excited about Christmas in July than I'd normally be. Maybe it's because I'm thankful to be mobile again. Maybe it's because I didn't celebrate Christmas last year. Either way, I'm looking forward to some hard-core celebrating on Saturday.
I plan on celebrating Christmas in July (which is also my cats' birthday) by participating in the Winking Lizard Shot in the Dark race. It's a 2 or 4 mile run/walk that starts around 5pm and is followed by a big street party featuring free food, drink specials, and a live band. I'll be walking in the race because of my slowly recovering running injury, but I do plan on partaking in some discount margarita action after the race. Just not too many. The last time I dehydrated after a race with margaritas, it was really bad news.
I've heard of a few other fun sounding events around town. Melt Bar and Grilled will be having their own Christmas celebration featuring Great Lakes Brewing Company Christmas Ale. The Boneyard in Broadview Heights is having their own X-Mas in July celebration complete with a live band, and , you guessed it - Christmas Ale. If you're an east-sider, the Fox and Hound is having a Christmas party, complete with "games, prizes, Christmas Ale, and shot girls" starting at 10 pm.
How do you plan on spending this Christmas in July?
