Top Patios in Cleveland - East Side Edition

Ah, Spring. (Although it feels a lot more like summer - HOT)

One of the best things about Spring is being able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. By the time summer hits, it's humid, hot, and overall too miserable to spend much time outside. At least for me. I'm always warm, and when I sit outside during the summer, I feel like a bug under a magnifying glass.

Here are my picks for the top 10 patios (in bar/restaurant-like establishments) on the East side of Cleveland.

1. Paninis in Willoughby. It has a really cool tiki bar (complete with fake palm trees) and plenty of seating. There aren't an overwhelming number of vegetarian options, but who really goes there to eat anyway?

2. Winking Lizard in Bedford Heights. A suburban oasis. You'd never expect a bar on such a busy street to have such a nice patio. (I actually had lunch there yesterday - the roasted veggie wrap was delish.) There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu, ranging from pizza to wraps. My favorite item on the menu? Drinks for 2. Because one person can order a "drinks for 2" item and it's really the equivalent of at least 3 drinks.

3. Red Hawk Grille - Concord. Beautiful outdoor bar with ample seating. Great food. next to a golf course so you can watch golf carts zoom by.

4. Firehouse Grille & Pub - Willoughby Hills. Nice patio. Great service. Not many vegetarian food options, but the ambiance makes up for that. The only downside that parking is nearly impossible on a busy night.

5. Nighttown - Cleveland Heights. A gorgeous patio and amazing food. Plus some really great bartenders!

6. Bar Louie at Legacy Village. Features a $5 martini happy hour and other great drink specials. Plus the people watching in Legacy Village is pretty phenomenal.

7. Olivor Twist - Willoughby. A fabulous martini bar with a huge drink list. Has a great lunch/dinner menu, although I've never eaten there.

8. Wright Place - Willoughby Hills. Locate literally next door to The Firehouse. I wouldn't recommend eating there - vegetarian or not - but the patio is nice and the atmosphere is pretty cool.

9. Beach Club Bistro - Euclid. Features a 50 seat - SMOKE FREE patio. The eggplant roulettes entree is one of the best eggplant entrees in town. (Believe me - I've eaten a lot of eggplant.)

10. Lopez - Cleveland Heights. They serve pitchers of margaritas. Need I say any more?
