If you haven't already heard, today is Iced Coffee Day at Dunkin' Donuts. A portion of the proceeds will go toward building handicapped accessible homes for the many troops who are returning home with horrific injuries. Although I'm not in favor of the war, I am in favor of helping those who have been the victims of this war.
But enough about that...
One of the best gifts I've ever received is my Keurig coffee maker. I aspire to own a vegetarian cafe/coffee shop, so my little K-Cup brewer lets me play barista in my own home. I frequently visit the Keurig website and try to order sample sized boxes of the new varieties that are stocked. One of my favorites is Timothy's German Chocolate Cake - which literally tastes like drinking a piece of freshly baked cake. So on my last visit to the site, I was happy to see that Green Mountain's Island Coconut had become available. If you have never tried Green Mountain coffee - and like coffee - you owe it to your self to give one of their coffee varieties a whirl. From flavored to fair trade, they sell delicious coffees no matter what kind you typically like. And as a bonus for me, or any other Keurig brewer user, most types of their coffee are available in K-Cups.
I was so excited to try the Island Coconut coffee. It's one of the Green Mountain seasonal blends that's only available for a short amount of time. (I'd ordered another seasonal variety - Pumpkin Spice - in the fall - I liked it but it got to be a bit too spicy for me.) I decided to wait to savor my coffee until this past Sunday morning, when I could actually sit down and enjoy my coffee and not slurp it down in a mad rush. And it was amazing! So coconutty! I enjoyed every sip. The coconut flavor was strong but not overbearing and was completely fresh. I don't know how they managed to make the coffee so flavorful. I find that I tend to like fair trade coffees more often than not, so the fact that this seasonal gem is also fair trade is an added bonus for me. I think I'm going to have to stock pile quite a few boxes of this kind before it's gone again...
